“At Sibley-Ocheyedan Schools, we build partnerships to challenge minds, to invest in community, and to embrace life.”
Sibley-Ocheyedan is a 1A school district with approximately 650 learners in grades PK-12. We are located approximately one hour from Sioux Falls and Sioux City in the Northwest corner of the state. The district is also a short 45-minute drive to the Iowa Great Lakes.
We are proud to offer a small district atmosphere with a student to teacher ratio of approximately 12:1 but with many outstanding opportunities for students to participate in both academic and co-curricular activities. Many teachers hold master’s degrees or higher and we have a great mix of teachers with 15 plus years experience and teachers in their first few years of teaching. This combination of veteran and newer teachers compliment one another to make our learning environment one that is engaging and motivating for students.

On Wednesday, January 28, Sibley-Ocheyedan will be hosting Chad Greenway as a motivational speaker. He is scheduled to begin at 6:30 PM, with doors opening at 6:15 PM. He will be presenting in the HS gym this year. This is being sponsored by the Sibley-Ocheyedan Athletic Booster Club and the Osceola Ministerial Association.

Healthy minds build healthy kids
The Sibley-Ocheyedan Community School District is partnering with the Osceola Regional Health Center to provide free behavior healthcare to students during school hours.
Students who have parental consent can be seen by a psychiatric nurse practitioner free of charge. Parents may set up an appointment for their child by calling the Sibley-Ocheyedan school counselor at (712) 754-3601.
"We are excited to partner with ORHC to provide this opportunity to our students and families for additional support. Thanks to ORHC for their partnership," said Stan DeZeeuw, Superintendent at Sibley Ocheyedan Community School District.
Parents may participate in each visit by phone or video call. Consultation for therapy and/or medication management and ongoing treatment will be available. No medications will be prescribed without consultation with a parent. If medications are prescribed, the child's insurance will be utilized to provide those medications.
"Students face a lot of pressures today, both inside and outside the classroom,” said Laura De Kruyf, Behavioral Health Nurse Practitioner at Osceola Regional Health Center. “Our aim in expanding mental health resources at the school is to help students navigate life while being supported, heard, and valued."
Funding for these services is provided by The Wellmark Foundation as part of their $5 million grant aimed at addressing the mental and behavioral health crisis among Iowa's youth. The School-Centered Behavioral Health Grant supports rural Iowa school districts, providing timely and convenient access to mental and behavioral health services. More information about the Wellmark Foundation grant can be found online at www.wellmark.com.
“Taking care of our mental health is so very important, and if we learn how to do it well at a young age, we can cope with adulthood significantly better, make better choices, and live a better life,” said Ann Konda, Behavioral Health Nurse Practitioner at Osceola Regional Health Center. “Please take advantage of this opportunity for your children to start mastering their mental wellness and develop a stronger foundation moving into adulthood.”
