Pre-K Hall Walk

March 25, 2013

We had an AWESOME turnout for the Pre-K Hall Walk on Saturday.  Seventeen students & their families and friends showed up to walk the halls of the high school/middle school square.  We walked for almost 2 hours and the kids finished a total of 391 laps as a class!  If you know a Pre-K student, please be sure to congratulate them.

The kids & families were very creative in their Team Themes.... we had such teams as "Duck Dynasty", "Duke Blue Devils", "Cyclones", "Bubbles & Balloons", "John Deere", "Pajama Party", "Duck Tape Dinosaurs", "Farm", "Ladybugs", "IA Wrestling", "Vikings", "Camo"....  it was a lot of fun!

Each child walked an average of 23 laps... (which I THINK is almost 4 miles).  Pretty impressive for a group of 5 year olds!  And, I never heard one of them complain about being tired or wanting to quit!  We also were very happy to have Mindy WItham (Brenden's Mom and one of our recipients) walk with her son for about half the time and then ride in a wheelchair ~ this was a blessing as she just had her latest chemo treatment on Thursday.  Our class volunteer, Barb Nieland, (another one of our recipients) was also able to attend in her wheelchair & cheer the kids on with signs that said "Keep Going!" and "You're Almost There!"  In all, there were a little over 100 people who walked.

A big thank you to the custodians for having the school open & ready for us on their day off.  We appreciated it!

Anyone who is still interested in donating/pledging  for a child in our class, please give your donations to a Pre-K student or send it to the elementary school, Attn:Pre-K.  (Checks can be made to S-O Character Counts).
Hope you all have (had) a great weekend... WE DID!!!
